Spot-tailed Quoll

Image Code: Spot-tailed Quoll MRW8223

Dasyurus maculatus   Also known as the spotted-tail quoll, the spotted quoll, the spotted-tailed dasyure or  the tiger quoll, is a carnivorous marsupial native to Australia. The tiger quoll is listed by the IUCN with the status "near threatened". The Australian Department of the Environment and Heritage considers the northern subspecies D. m. gracilis as endangered.  All quoll species have declined in numbers since European settlement due to habitat loss and modification across the land, and introduced predators such as foxes.
